1:’INSTRUCTIONS:’
This mission will allow you to practice the 3 main types of formations you’ll participate in: Left Edge Formation, Right Edge Formation, and V Formation. In each formation, you’ll take the number 4 position, in the back. Try to maintain a constant distance and position offset from the plane in front of you, matching what you see the AI pilots doing. Using your trim controls will help you to stay in the desired position without feeling like you’re fighting the rudder and stick, but constant small adjustments will be necessary.

‘Trimming’ your aircraft involves adjusting small sub control surfaces on the aircraft’s larger control surfaces. This is used to achieve level flight without feeling like you’re fighting the controls. Small adjustments should be made until the plane feels stable. Trimming your aircraft is appropriate for all conditions of flying, not just formation flying. After setting these keys, it can be helpful to go back and try trimming the aircraft for other purposes.
